- Alec Gill is on one of Hull's foremost local historians. He is also a psychotherapist. This site gives some indication as to the depths of his knowledge and talents, with articles on local history and also details of prepared talks that ensure that Alec is in constant demand.
- Arctic Corsair This is a site primarily concerned with Deep Sea Trawling in general and the Arctic Corsair trawler in particular, which is now a part of the Streetlife Museum in Hull, dedicated to the trawlermen - and their families - of Kingston-upon-Hull.

- Bench Press is a poetry based site which includes everything from essays and reviews, to competitions and discussion groups.
- The Poetry Society Britain's premier poetry society, with links to poetry sites all over the world.
- The Reading Room is an online forum for readers groups created by West Yorkshire Arts Marketing, under funding from the New Audiences Project.
- Subtle Flame began life in Beverley, East Yorkshire as a venue where poets and musicians could meet once a month to perform their work and hear others. Unfortunately, they are no longer organising these meetings on a regular basis, concentrating instead on promoting writing to a much wider audience. More information is available on their web site, where you can also read some of the Subtle Flamer's poetry and, if you like it, order one or more of their publications.
